{"id":360,"date":"2020-08-05T20:39:32","date_gmt":"2020-08-06T02:39:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/catchawave.com\/?post_type=product&#038;p=360"},"modified":"2026-08-11T16:10:38","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T22:10:38","slug":"101-attenuator","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/catchawave.com\/index.php\/product\/101-attenuator\/","title":{"rendered":"10:1 Attenuator &#8211; TA197"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With high bandwidth and fault protection, the\u00a010:1 attenuator allows you to measure fuel injector and primary ignition waveforms using PicoScope oscilloscopes.<\/p>\n<p>The TA197 is a passive 10:1 attenuator. This means that,\u00a0for example, a 10\u00a0V signal at its input appears as a 1\u00a0V signal on its output. It allows voltages of up to 400\u00a0V at its input. It is designed for ground-referenced signals only, as it attenuates the signal path but not the ground path.<\/p>\n<p>The TA197 attenuator also increases the input impedance of the oscilloscope from 1\u00a0M\u03a9 to\u00a08 M\u03a9, so\u00a0can be used when measuring the output of high-impedance sensors such as piezo knock sensors where connecting an automotive scope can attenuate the signal or induce a fault code.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> When using a PicoScope 4225, 4425, 4225A or 4425A\u00a0oscilloscope, the attenuator is not normally needed for measuring injectors as the voltage spike is usually under 200 V. It will be required, however, when using older generations of PicoScopes that measure to only 50 V or 100 V.
